Amazon Linux 2023 Security Advisory: ALAS2023-2026-1397
Advisory Released Date: 2026-02-05
Advisory Updated Date: 2026-02-05
Severity:
Low
Issue Overview:
A flaw was identified in the RelaxNG parser of libxml2 related to how external schema inclusions are handled. The parser does not enforce a limit on inclusion depth when resolving nested <include> directives. Specially crafted or overly complex schemas can cause excessive recursion during parsing. This may lead to stack exhaustion and application crashes, creating a denial-of-service risk. (CVE-2026-0989)
Affected Packages:
libxml2
Issue Correction:
Run dnf update libxml2 --releasever 2023.10.20260202 or dnf update --advisory ALAS2023-2026-1397 --releasever 2023.10.20260202 to update your system.
More information on how to update your system can be found on this page: Amazon Linux 2023 documentation
